An Opportunity to Close the Achievement Gap
There are gaps in our education system. Not only in who we serve, but how we serve them.
This achievement gap exists particularly for students of color. Hispanic students are at a higher risk of academic failure due to high absence rate, language barriers, and lack of parent education. While Hispanic students are the largest minority group in our nation’s schools, these grave educational challenges hinder them in their pursuit of the American dream.
We saw an opportunity to close the gap. To create equal opportunity in our own backyard of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It started with education.
Documenting Milestones
At Aug Prep, we believe that all students deserve an equal education. All students deserve support. All students deserve an opportunity to succeed. We created this documentary to show the incredible milestones that all students are capable of achieving when given an opportunity.
About Aug Prep
St. Augustine Preparatory Academy is a K4-12 Christian school established in 2017 on Milwaukee’s Southside. Here in this student-centered environment, young learners take ownership of their education not only in academics, but also physical health, creativity, and faith.
The school serves over 1,400 students; more than 90% of whom are Hispanic or Latino. It is the school’s greatest mission to ensure that children are held accountable, challenged to grow in their beliefs, and given the opportunity to succeed.
One student at a time, Aug Prep is moving the academic needle in an upward trajectory. This bold new school presents students with opportunities to succeed, and more importantly, instills the belief in them that no matter where they were born or what zip code they grow up in, they are entitled to an excellent education.

The Man Behind the Mission
Gus Ramirez is the Founder and Chairman of Husco, International Inc. and St. Augustine Preparatory Academy. He funded this documentary to share the critical impact Aug Prep has on the lives of students as well as the community.
